Recipe Monday

Smoothies, slushies, juices. I love them all. They're just so delicious and refreshing. Here's a (very) quick little slushie that I put together that would be perfect drink to make this summer.

Ingredients

Put about 10 basil leaves along with 1/4 cup of water into a blender or something you can blend in using a hand blender. This may seem like a lot of basil, but it's really not as overwhelming as you think.

Blend this together until it's almost completely smooth. You may have tiny little pieces of basil left, but you won't notice once it's all put together.

Chop up 1 cup of strawberries.

Toss those in along with your blended basil. Add in the juice of 1 whole lemon. Well, wait. Actually, add the juice of 1/2 first and then add the other 1/2 if it didn't seem very juicy. That's not very helpful, but hopefully you're able to tell the difference between a very juicy lemon and a not so juicy one.

Then add in another 1/4 cup of water and a bunch of ice. I would say approximately 10 ice cubes. Then blend it all together until it's a smooth slush.

Serve it up. This made enough for 2 glasses or if you really love it then 1 large glass. FYI: This is pretty tart. You could add some sugar (or maybe honey) to it if you want to sweeten it up a little, but I loved it just the way it was. The basil works so well with the other flavors.

You could also make this into an adult beverage very easily. Add in a splash of rum, gin, or tequila. Or  heck, even vodka might work. I made this pretty early in the day, so I decided not to test this idea. Let me know if you do try it!

 Until next time.
